A New Beginning: SHGs for PLHIV Empowerment and Inclusion
Inspired by the successful YARLA project in Sanghvi, NSOP+ has taken the lead in establishing self-help groups to empower people living with HIV (PLHIV) within our network. These 19 groups, comprising a diverse mix of PLHIV and HIV-negative individuals, have been instrumental in reducing stigma, promoting mainstream integration, and generating income for our beneficiaries.

Through these self-help groups, PLHIV have found a supportive community where they can share experiences, build relationships, and overcome the challenges associated with living with HIV. By acquiring valuable skills such as pickle-making, papad-making, roti-making, wedding decor, beauty parlor services, goat farming, and banana plate production, our members have not only gained confidence but also opened up new avenues for economic independence.

These self-help groups have proven to be a powerful tool for fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment among PLHIV. By breaking down barriers and challenging societal norms, they have played a crucial role in promoting the mainstream integration of individuals living with HIV. This initiative demonstrates the immense potential of self-help groups in empowering PLHIV, creating opportunities for economic growth, and building a more inclusive society.
